Accessibility

Last reviewed: October 10, 2026

We want Feu vert to be easy for everyone to use: at the office, on a phone in bright sunlight, with a screen reader or without a mouse. Here is what we aim for, how we checked it and what isn’t right yet.

Our goal

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, now the international standard ISO/IEC 40500:2025. We also follow the Quebec government’s web accessibility standard, SGQRI 008 3.0.

For job sites, we go further: high-contrast text and statuses for reading in the sun, buttons big enough for a thumb, and light pages that work even without JavaScript.

How we checked it

  • Automated checks with axe-core 4.10.2, in the Chromium browser, on the public pages, the app and the subcontractors’ link (October 2026).
  • Keyboard-only navigation, without a mouse, on every page.
  • Text enlarged to 200%, wider text spacing, and a screen 320 pixels wide (a phone, or a screen zoomed to 400%).
  • The contrast of every colour measured with the WCAG formula.

Nothing has been tested yet with a screen reader (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack) or with people with disabilities. That’s the next step.

What the icons mean

The lights: three lamps; the lit one is filled, the others are empty rings. The word is always written next to it or read by the screen reader.

  • Red light Don’t hire or pay until it’s settled.
  • Yellow light Needs checking soon.
  • Green light Nothing stands in the way of hiring or paying.

The link opens in a new tab (the RBQ’s official registry, a file).
≡
Menu: on a phone, opens the list of pages.

The green band on the home page is decorative: it repeats the four checks. Nothing on the page scrolls by itself.

The “Active”, “Accepted”, “To review” or “Rejected” labels give a status in words; their colour only repeats it.

What isn’t right yet

  • The PDF records don’t carry tags yet: a screen reader reads their text, but not their headings or tables. The same record exists as an accessible web page: use “View the record” next to “Export as PDF”.
  • The sites we link to (the RBQ registry, Revenu Québec’s Mon dossier, the CNESST) aren’t ours.
